Do you feel like you are taking good care of your hair using the right shampoo? It’s a first step, but there is much more you can do. Like skin, your hair deserves better than a simple cleaning to be in its best shape and shine.
Starting with a regular mask to nourish and treat it in depth. There are dozens of them. Should we prefer them organic? Rather use a vegetable mask? How frequently ?
Hair masks regenerate the fiber in depth. They therefore have a treating and restorative effect. They are applied on well-towel-dried hair, on the half-lengths, with emphasis on the ends. You can wrap your hair in a hot towel and leave it on for 20 minutes. Only masks for oily hair, or for hair that falls out, apply to the hairline. A mask is usually applied once a week.

It is suitable for all types of hair, dry and damaged as well as oily, normal, fine, curly or colored hair.
It brings volume and shine to dry and damaged hair, and it regulates the production of sebum in case of oily hair.

Sun-dried and sifted according to tradition, this clay preserves its natural benefits and original chemical composition throughout the production process. Moroccan Red clay is rich in hydrophilic minerals, essential nutrients and provitamins. Its neutral pH does not contain any surfactant.

Natural mask or classic hair mask?
Like all organic cosmetics, organic hair masks are made up of 95% natural ingredients. They are not allowed to have chemicals like parabens or silicones. A minimum of 10% of the ingredients must be from organic farming. There are different labels, which have different requirements.
The organic products are less aggressive, contain more basic nutrients.
They only provide the skin with what it needs, without adding certain chemicals that the skin cannot eliminate and would store in the tissues. But they also have disadvantages compared to conventional hair masks which require synthesis: they can be stored for a shorter period, they can be irritating, and they can be insufficiently tested.
How to choose your vegetable mask?
Vegetable mask does not necessarily mean organic mask. Even if often the two are linked. Certain plant products, used since the dawn of time, work miracles on the hair. You can choose to use them as is, or improved, in combination with other products.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of the most used plant products in masks :
The clay is purifying and helps to rebalance the secretion of sebum. Green clay is suitable for oily hair because it absorbs better than other clays. It rebalances the scalp, fights dandruff, and purifies the scalp. On the other hand, white clay (kaolin) is more suitable for dry hair and sensitive scalps. The yellow clay, meanwhile, very soft, revives devitalized hair and lack of shine.
You can make your own mask by possibly adding essential oils or plant powder such as amla (Indian fruit) or nettle, or use ready-to-use masks such as the Cattier Repairing Mask (see all above )
Rhassoul is natural volcanic clay native to Morocco, in the mountains of the Middle Atlas. It has been used since the middle ages for its cosmetic and medicinal properties. It has cleansing, regenerating, exfoliating and moisturizing properties. It is suitable for all skin types and does not irritate the sebaceous glands.
It is excellent both for the skin to treat acne, or to smooth fine lines, and for application to the body and hair. It can for example be used as a hair mask, by mixing a little lukewarm water, rhassoul and an egg yolk, to obtain a paste that is applied to the hair for 15 minutes. The By Saad brand, which uses natural products from Morocco, has created a special mask enriched with 14 plants from the Atlas.
Argan oil is another Moroccan treasure, and benchmark oil in hair care. It is used as a hair mask, at least an hour before shampooing, or before going to bed. A mask every two weeks is sufficient. Argan oil is widely used in many ready-to-use hair masks like Grace & Stella Co Hair Mask in combination with Sunflower Oil and Guava Extract or Face Mask the English brand Organic Shop, which also contains shea butter.
Shea butter is made from extracts from the fruits of the Shea tree, a tree that grows in the savannas of West Africa. It deeply hydrates, and is particularly suitable for curly, frizzy and frizzy hair, which it softens, as well as very dry hair. Rich in vitamins A, D, E, F, it protects well from external aggressions.
It softens the hair, makes it silky and shiny. Finally, its fatty acids also soothe the scalp. It can be found pure, like that of the brand Pranaturals .
A particularly effective mask to make yourself is the mask with argan oil and Shea butter: mix 1 teaspoon of Shea butter previously melted with 1 teaspoon of argan oil (2 spoons if your hair is long) and apply this mixture to all the lengths.
The avocado nourishes and hydrates the hair. Its oil is used as a mask on particularly damaged hair, which can be left on for an hour before shampooing or overnight. Avocado is also used as a mask, crushed with a tablespoon of olive oil, a tablespoon of yogurt, and a tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture to the lengths for half an hour. You can also use the ready-to-use mask from the brand Organic, which combines the benefits of avocado and honey.

Here is a small list of trusted Brands for natural make up products that I like. It is really not an exhaustive directory; there are plenty of others (and that’s good!).
Makeup Top 2
1. Burt’s Bees
This is an underestimated brand in my opinion, but it consistently finds itself at the top of the pro charts. Not bad for a brand that can be found so easily in pharmacies!
Burt’s Bees offers reliable products, without toxic ingredients (they are not vegan however) and with great value for money. Their lipsticks and glosses are on makeup artist best of lists all the time !
2. Josie Maran
It is a brand whose products are all based on argan oil. The products are organic, fair trade and non-toxic.
Josie Maran offers face and body treatments too, but I chose to include them in the makeup category for one simple reason: their mascara is great! And my word of mouth, when you make a natural transition at my place, it was the most difficult item to find / replace. They even have two formulas that promote eyelash growth: volumizing and lengthening.
