Have you been thinking of a way to get thicker hair? Do you feel your hair is getting less thick than it used to be? Then it’s probably because you’re not doing certain things and you’re not eating certain foods which will improve your hair density and texture. These are remedies and steps you should follow to restore the thickness of your hair and ensure the overall good health of your hair

1. Trim your hair regularly:

Regular trimming of your hair can ensure fast growth and thickening. It sounds counter-intuitive but the end of the hair strand is usually the part that gets the most damage and rough splitting. This splitting can run all the way up to the healthier part of your hair and cause it to split and even break off. This decreases the overall density of your hair.

This splitting happens because of excessive dirt and sun. Damaged hair filled with split ends inhibits the growth and health of the hair by causing thinning and breakage. When you trim your hair, those split ends come off leaving your hair to breathe and grow without any hurdle.

2.  Eat healthy:

Hair growth starts from the inside. The food we eat affects our body positively or negatively and reflects in our general appearance. It is necessary to eat right to keep healthy in all parts and places in the body to get thick hair fast.

Food that enhances health growth and texture includes foods rich in Iron, Biotin, zinc, and protein such as; Eggs, peanuts, cauliflower, banana, lentils, red meat, chicken, whole grains, soybeans, seafood such as salmon, and low-fat dairy products.

Foods made with coconut and olive oil also enhance hair health. Avoid coffee, alcohol, and tobacco.

Limit the consumption of processed and refined foods which can weaken your body and obstruct the vital nutrients in your body.

Drink plenty of water which will keep your hair strands supple and sleek. Your overall eating habit should be put into consideration to achieve this.

3. Avoid frequent washing of your hair:

Frequent washing of your hair weakens essential oils in your scalp which keeps your hair healthy. Here’s a proper guide to hair washing;

  • For dry hair, wash one or two times a week.
  • For normal hair, wash two to four times a week.
  • For curly or wavy dry hair, once per week or once every two weeks.
  • For oily hair, wash every two days but it may be necessary to wash every day.

4. Brush your scalp regularly:

Brushing your scalp regularly helps to stimulate the cells on your scalp and help promote growing thick hair fast. Do not brush your hair after showering or when it’s wet, only brush it when it’s dry because it can break easily if brushed when wet.

It is best to brush your hair before shampooing and conditioning. This will help loosen up the hair strands that are about to fall out. You can brush your hair with a wire bristle brush and you can comb with wide tooth comb or your fingertips if your hair is wet to detangle it.

5. If you want to get thick hair fast: Don’t overuse heat styling tools:

Using heat styling tools such as a heat dryer or hair straightener can completely dry out your hair. It leaves your hair brittle and dull. Avoid blow-drying and heat styling on the same day to allow your scalp time to heal and recover from the recent exposure to heat.

To avoid excess heat, a thermal heat protector can be used and the heat should not be above 185°c.

6. Loosen up your hair:

Tied and tight hair can be unhealthy for your hair. This is because the stress placed on the perpetual tension of your scalp will lead to root breakage and possibly a receding hairline. You can blow out your hair or style with a hair spray.
