This review is for Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard, another product to give you styling options in the Beautiful Textures line of products.

I have yet to try a Beautiful Textures product that I just did not like. The Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard is no exception. It has a very sweet smell but seems to only last for the first day after untwisting. The consistency is like a very loose gel and it spreads really, really well.

Ingredients of Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard:

Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract/Aloe Vera, Tocopherol/Vitamin E, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract/Rosemary Extract, Cocos Nucifera Oil/Coconut Oil, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olive Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit/Shea Butter, Mangifera Indica Seed Butter/Mango Butter, Argania Spinosa Nut Oil/Argan Oil,Hydrolyzed Triticum Vulgare Protein/Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Xanthan Gum, Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium 11, Imidazolidinyl Urea, DMDM Hydantoin, Polysorbate 20, Parfum/Fragrance, Benzyl Benzoate, d-Limonene, Linalool.

How I used:
===========

I used this product to twist my hair after shampooing. A You Tuber gave a good suggestion I thought when trying new products. Some people complain of flaking or the product not performing well because they are using other products from a different product line or products with a white or other color to them underneath the new product.

When a company manufacturers a product they are formulating it to work with their other products in the line. If something else is used with the product it may appear that the product is not working well, when in reality it may just be the combinations of products that were used.

Therefore, I did not use any ‘colored, including white’ heavy conditioners underneath but only a clear spray leave in and shea butter and grapeseed oil to seal. Since I had read that the hold of Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard was soft, I used a little Curl Control Defining Pudding along with it to give it more punch. I just mixed the 2 together in my hand before applying to my hair and twisting it.

Results:

1st Day Hair

I thought the product gave good definition to my twist out without being crunchy as gels usually are in my hair. My hair still seemed to have the same amount of shrinkage, even though I had allowed it to dry slightly before applying the products.

2nd Day Hair

The second day I really loved the look. The night before I had just twisted in large sections to maintain the definition without applying any additional product. The second day hair had fallen slightly so looked longer but still had good definition and shine.

3rd Day Hair

The third day without applying any additional Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard a lot of the definition had fallen out, so I opted to put my hair in any updo. Since this product has soft hold and I do not like to set my hair with heat, a couple of day is the most I could get out of this product without retwisting and/or applying more product. This is fine for me, but if you want your twist outs to last longer without doing anything else to them you will probably need to either use heat to set them or this product is not for you.

Summary:

As stated, I have not been disappointed with the Beautiful Textures line and the Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Styling Custard is no exception. It does not have long lasting hold, but it also does not make your hair feel ‘crunchy’ and dry as some gels do. If you shampoo or conditioner wash your hair every few days anyway and don’t care about long lasting hold, this product should work for you.

I purchased it at Amazon for about $6 or $7.
