TRESSES IN DISTRESS? TIPS TO REPAIR DAMAGED HAIR
As with your body and your skin, having beautiful hair takes work. Hair needs good nutrition, minimal stress and of course, great grooming habits. Repeated bleaching, dyeing, perming and straightening causes hair to become dull and lose its luster. Here are some tips to repair damage hair and keep your hair looking beautiful year-round:
* Moisturize. If you have long hair, leave-in conditioner can help keep your tresses full of life. Cold weather in particular can disrupt the moisture balance of the scalp, so make sure to use conditioner in the winter months.
* Give your hair the spa treatment. When it comes to restorative, indulgent beauty masques, why should your skin have all the fun? Give your locks a luxurious therapeutic spa treatment with a hair masque that is perfect for tresses in distress as well as healthy hair that just needs an occasional pick-me-up.
For example, Nature’s Gate offers new deep-conditioning hair masques made with nourishing proteins and organic botanicals. The masques come in chamomile for color-treated hair; jojoba to revitalize damaged hair; aloe vera to moisturize normal to dry hair; and herbal, a hydrating masque for all hair types. For the best results, leave the hair masque on for two to five minutes after shampooing.
* Steer clear of heat. Use styling products such as curling irons and hot rollers sparingly. If you use a hair dryer, set it to the coolest setting possible and do not concentrate the heat on one area of the scalp for a long period of time.
* Protect your hair from the sun. Just like your skin, your hair can become sun-damaged. Wear a hat or apply a conditioner that contains sunscreen to block out damaging ultraviolet rays.
A lustrous, clean, and lively hair is a subject of envy for many. It is a manifestation of an optimum health and an evidence of youthful glow. While it is a frustration for some, you can transform that dull, grimy, and limp hair of yours to an enviably age-defying one too! How?
Shampoo only he scalp
If you compare skin care to hair care, shampoo is the soap that gets rid of oils, dirt, dandruff, pollutants and other impure particles that gradually assembles in hair. Just like your soap, your shampoo should also be used only to select areas to prevent it from stripping out so much as to make hair unmanageable.
So when shampooing, remember that your hair is dirtiest and oiliest at the scalp. Shampoo just your scalp and the sudsy overflow would be sufficient to cleanse the rest of you hair without saying goodbye to your hair’s natural shine. Remember, too much shampoo eliminates too much oil that actually protects the protein structure of hair from damage, and you’re just reversing the end of your purpose.
Know what to use
Many commercial shampoos, conditioners, and other hair products can damage your hair in the long run making hair look dull and weary. Choosing the right product does not only make the hair look health and beautiful but also saves hair from destruction. For very dry hair, use mild shampoo and good quality conditioner that contain humectants which holds moisture in the hair.
Shampoo For Greasy Hair
For greasy hair, a good nourishing shampoo should be used, while avoiding too much brushing as this excites oil glands which are already over-active. People with sensitive scalp should use organic or botanical shampoos because they have less harsh chemicals, thus, gentler to your hair. For brittle hair, a conditioner with reconstructor should be used- preferable those that contain hydrolyzed protein that penetrates the hair and strengthens its structure.
For people usually exposed to sun or blow-dryers and hair curlers, a shampoo and conditioner with thermal protectors should be used. These shield the hair against excessive heat. Baby shampoos should only be used by babies, of course, as its composition is not enough for the hair of an adult. There’s no dispute as to what people with dandruff should use.
Condition only the tips
Again if you compare skin care to hair care, a conditioner is the moisturizer that helps improve the texture and appearance of the hair. Like shampoo, soap, and moisturizers, a conditioner should only be applied unto select areas. This time, put conditioner only at the ends. This prevents the hair to sit limp at the roots which actually makes your hair look older.
The nozzle of a blow-dryer should be pointed downward to help close the cuticle, improving the sheen of our hair. For the final three minutes of blow-drying, experts suggested to switch the equipment to a cool setting to fight dry and frizz hair, and flyaways.
Have a shorter hair
According to beauty experts, long hair can age you and make you look tired and haggard, and they say that shorter hair can give you just the boost you need to look younger. So, be brave to give yourself a better cut. You don’t wanna look old with a long hair. Furthermore, tell your hairdresser to add layers as this gives hair fullness and bounce, that, in turn, makes hair look softer and shinier.
Like a fine lace
As a popular hairdresser said before, the hair is like a fine lace. It is a precious item people wear and display anywhere, anytime. In the end, whether your aim is to look younger or just plainly to look more beautiful, you will be held responsible in taking care of a precious lace.
Citre Shine Shampoo And Conditioner
Why Citre Shine is not a very well-known brand, I do not know. What I know is that it is a very good line of hair care products.
My personal favorites are the (separate) Shampoo and Hair Conditioner. These two come in different variants for specific hair types and results. Since my hair is quite dry and wavy, I prefer to use the anti-frizz variant.
When you first use the shampoo, you will at once notice the clean smell. It is not too fruity and sweet and neither is it a soapy clean smell. In fact it just smells fresh. Unlike with other shampoos, Citre Shine’s smell lasts throughout the day even if you get exposed to the sun and pollution. The conditioner enhances this smell even more.
Even as you use the conditioner, you can feel the smoothness of your hair. When you are done washing your hair, you can either air dry or blow dry it. Either way, you hair will be pleasantly surprised at how neat it looks like. The more amazing thing is the shine. The first time I used both products, I couldn’t believe how shiny my hair had become!
To get the best out of the shampoo and conditioner, I suggest that you take your time in the shower. Let the products soak in for a few minutes. Do this especially for the conditioner. Use a small amount and then leave it on for a while. Then make sure that you rinse them both off very well.
In order to experience what these great products can give you, you have to be willing to shell out a bit more than you usually would on your normal shampoo and conditioner. They usually offer discounts and additional free contents with the bigger bottles. You don’t have to use a large amount of both the shampoo and conditioner to get your desired results. In fact, I do not use the shampoo everyday. There are days when I just use the conditioner as my hair is still shiny and not all tangled up.
Do not let the price turn you off. Think about it. With Citre Shine, you do not need to use as much of the shampoo and conditioner as you would with the more affordable brands.
As Citre Shine is not very popular (yet), there might be a problem finding the products. If I were you, I’d snatch a couple of bottles up if I chanced upon them.
